Youth Program – Competitive Clay Target Shooting

At Etowah Valley Sporting Clays, we embrace the chance to work with the young people in our communities. Our youth program is an opportunity for young people to learn the skills needed for competitive clay target shooting in a safe and controlled environment. We have members from different shooting teams that use our range to practice as a part of our youth program. We give them a chance to practice trap, skeet and sporting clays shooting for their competitions.

Taking part in shotgun sports can be a great opportunity for young people to learn gun safety, teamwork and precision skills that will last them a lifetime. Our range at Etowah Valley welcomes our young shooters, giving them a chance to spend time outdoors with other youth of similar ages. Some of our instructors work directly with the youth program, offering lessons and encouragement to improve their shooting skills within the perimeters of their sport.

After shooting for 7 years on the Etowah Valley Mambas youth Shotgun team, Camryn McCraney has signed with the University of Alabama to shoot on their clay shooting team in the fall of 2019. Alabama was 4th in the nation last year among Universities with clay shooting teams.

Our youth program works with local school systems that offer scholastic shooting teams, as well as our own Mambas SCTP Shooting Team. We have had many girls and boys excel in our program, with youth from grades fourth through twelfth participating in scholastic clay target programs. One of our recent youth program members received a shooting scholarship to Auburn University, demonstrating how our program can help young people reach their goals.
