The Etowah Valley Mambas youth shooting team recently returned from Nationals in Marengo, Ohio, and they didn’t just show up, they stood out. Competing against 333 teams and nearly 3,800 shooters from across the country, the Mambas brought home an incredible 4th place finish overall.

It was the kind of performance that shows what this program is made of: grit, focus, and community. Even though the season has ended, the impact will carry forward for years to come for these athletes and for the next generation of shooters. See what it means to be a Mamba.

What It Means to Be a Mamba

The Etowah Valley Mambas are more than a youth team, they’re a family. Open to boys and girls from grades 4 through 12, this program fosters a love for clay sports while developing life skills like:

  • Discipline & Focus

  • Goal Setting

  • Confidence

  • Teamwork

  • Responsibility

It’s not just about hitting targets, it’s about growing as an individual.

College Scholarships Through Shooting Sports

Did you know? Many collegiate programs offer scholarships for clay shooting athletes. One of our Mambas even received a scholarship to Auburn University, and others have gone on to compete for major institutions like The University of Alabama.

Joining the Mambas isn’t just a hobby, it’s an investment in a young athlete’s future.

Program Overview

  • Practice Schedule: Weekly practices during the season (spring through summer)

  • Competitions: Local, state, and national-level events through the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP)

  • Coaching: Instruction by certified coaches who prioritize safety, progress, and mentorship

All participants receive guidance on both technique and safety, ensuring a well-rounded and secure experience.

Year-Round Involvement

Though the competition season ends in summer, the Mambas stay involved throughout the year with:

  • Off-season training

  • Community events

  • Awards banquets

  • Fundraisers

  • Volunteer outreach

It’s about keeping kids connected to each other, to their goals, and to the values of sportsmanship.
